San Diego police were out in force all weekend with DUI checkpoints and saturation patrols set up across the county as people celebrated Cinco de Mayo. The holiday, which is celebrated with carne asada, margaritas and Mexican beer, is known to create an environment for drunk driving.

Drunk driving is a criminal offense that is not tolerated in the state of California. It is also important to note that if you are injured in an accident by a drunk driver, you may qualify to file a personal injury lawsuit against the driver. By filing a personal injury lawsuit, you may be able to recover compensation to cover the cost of your medical bills, lost wages if you are unable to work and more.
